Not Quite Heroes
Power Plant Bombing of '97
The Last officially sanctioned Super-Hero team for the Aeon city area was responsible for the devastation damage caused by a number of explosives set off within the Aeon City Nuclear Power Plant, Causing a Citywide Blackouts and billions of dollars in damage. The team had assured police that they were capable of handling the situation, banking on the predictable tendencies of the presumed small time villain Blackout to come out with a clean victory. However, after several hours had passed since the team entered the building, the majority of the team was seen running out of the building. This was followed by a number of explosions. The Plant had been destroyed and the reactors had gone critical, if not for the actions of team member Psiprophet, whose energy absorption abilities allowed her to prevent the spread of radioactive materials over the city at the presumed cost of her life.
Among the rubble the body of the villain Blackout was found, and his true identity, that of businessman James Grip, was revealed. The team had admitted that Blackouts previous actions had shown a strong sense of self preservation, and they believed that they could prevent the incident by trapping him within the building. What they did not know was that James Grip had been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, and that he was already dying. The stunt at the power plant was to be his last act while he lived, and the city feels it’s effects to this day.
